How to clean up a spill & pet urine without damaging your Carpet!
Select a Safe Spot Remover: Warning! Do not recommend spot remover products that you get at the store. They can leave to much sticky soap residue that can cause rapid resoiling and/or can permanently discolor your carpet especially oxyclean type products. Always pretest the fiber before using any spot remover. If you do not have a bottle of our spot out remover you can use 1/2 teaspoon of dishsoap to 16oz. of warm water in a spray bottle. ( use a clear non-bleach liquid dish detergent .) Never over concentrate!

Act Quickly: Removing the spill or liquid as soon as possible is the key! The longer any spill, or pet urine is allowed to set-in the carpet the more difficult and permanent it can become and costly to remove or repair.

Step 1: First blot liquids with a White 100% cotton towel or paper towel ( no printing ) for semi-
solids gently scrape up with a rounded spoon as much as you can. Blot with towel by stepping
or pressing down with your hand repeat untll there is no more transfer to towel. Warning! Never
scrub with towel or brush excessive scrubbing can cause permanent fiber damage to the carpet
                         and/or set the stain.

Step 2: Apply the spot cleaner with a spray trigger to the spot. Caution! Do not over saturate or pour any cleaner directly on a carpet  this can cause rapid resoiling of the spot. Gently agitate spot by using the edge of a rounded spoon. Blot with towel if spill or spot transfers to towel repeat as necessary untill the spot is gone. If there is no more transfer to towel and stain still remains stop. Call Image Stain Removal Specialist.

Step 3: After the spot, or pet urine is removed rinse with warm water in a spray bottle and blot dry with towel or use a dry vac untill you have removed as much moisture as possible.

Ink & markers: Are the the most difficult stains to remove that require specially developed solvents (that are not sold in stores) needed for successful removal of these stains. Once these stains are permanently set by improper removal can be the most costly to repair. Call us Immediately first before any spot procedure. If after hours place a damp off white towel over stain call us in the morning.

Warning! Not all spills and stain problems are removable by the above spotting procedure or by professional carpet cleaning. Any further action taken beyond the above spotting procedure could cause permanent damage to your carpet resulting in costly stain removal and/or color re-dyeing.

Definitions of Unusual Spot and Stain Problems

A Spot: is a substance that is added to the surface of the surounding fiber and can typically be removed with
a safe quality spot remover when removed promptly.

A permanent stain: is the dye color from a liquid or substance that has penetrated into the fiber causing it to be a permanent stain that is unable to be removed with general spotting or carpet cleaning procedures.

Discoloration: is something that has altered or changed the color of the carpet. Products mostly caused from clorine bleach, oxyclean products, pet urine, and other unsafe cleaning products that can effect the carpet
color causing permanent color loss damage to the fibers.

Recurring spots or stains: Are the reappearance of previously cleaned spot or stains that appear to be gone after cleaning and will reappear the next day or over a period of time. Most often this is caused by inadequate rinsing of the spot, or liquids that have absorbed into the carpet backing and pad. The spill or pet urine can appear to be gone after cleaning but the liquid in the pad is still wet. As the carpet dries the water in the liquid will rise to the surface and evaporate and bring with it the substance of the liquid. The substance does not evaporate and migrates at the surface of the carpet causing rapid resoiling.
